A taste for the finer things in life....

Jennys eggs have hatched and left the nest so she decided on some retail therapy to ease the pain :D

Her new pad is my little baby ben I bought off ebay :D
word of caution if you are also buying for the inards some have plastic components and a cardboard face :(
I managed one of each LOL :D

I used Makins clay again for Jenny (the same process as for Zuzus necklace)and the moulded flowers around the clock face (coloured with antique gold perfect pearls and rock candy stickles) and cut the metal clock face so that it fit in to the back of the casing.
Lined the sides with patterned paper and added a nest and loads of bling :D

Hope you like my little altered project as much as me and Jenny :D

Time to fly???

I am taking part in a pocket watch swap on zuzus altered art forum and this is what Zuzu herself has just received from me :D

I'm really pleased with this - despite a moment of panic last night when I thought she might not like it LOL :D
In fact so much I am going to make myself one just like it :D

My inspiration started when I bought these litle nests from ebay that had little plastic eggs inside - they looked too big to me so I took them out and made my own from white Makins clay. When it was dry I coloured them with broken china distress ink, vintage photo distress stickles and a spritzed the whole thing with copper cosmic shimmer mist.

I then stamped " imagination is more important than knowledge" on to a piece of photo canvas, frayed the edges and coloured with broken china and frayed burlap distress ink.
Well I tell a lie really because I first tried to stamp directly on to the watch but kept getting it wrong so I gave up and did it this way LOL :D
I inked the metal with a mix of black soot and ginger alcohol ink, then distress stickles in broken china and vintage photo,
I glued the canvas on with glossy accents and gave it all a thin layer smeared on with my finger to seal it all.
Everything got a quick spritz of the cosmic shimmer :D

This is little Jenny wren :D She is made from brown makins clay in a sugarcraft push mould I bought from ebay - cute huh :D
I stipled it with black and ginger alcohol ink and then antique gold perfect pearls brushed lightly over.
I highlighted the eye and the beek with sepia accents.
I them smeared on a little bit of the broken china distress stickles to give her a pretty glimmer :D She is sitting on a branch which was part of a necklace I bought from an ebay seller in china called skorbee - you may remember the birdcage pendant I bought last year? well this was from the same place :D
I distressed it with inks, distress powders in vintage photo and scattered straw and I think I threw in some cosmic shimmer and stickles for good measure LOL
Its embellished with crystal type drops from a necklace bought from peacocks and little flowers again from ebay.

The lobster claw clasp is from ...... guess......I dare you LOL - EBAY!!!! LOL

I put the watch on the clasp so that if Zuzu wanted to wear it without the watch she could because little Jenny sitting on the bench looks quite pretty without her babies :D

I was really excited when I had finished and had to share the pics with a few peeps to control it much to Zuzu despair when I wouldn't show her LMAO
But judging by here reaction I think it was worth the wait and hopefully won't get altered in to a future project LMAO :D

Just a quick one....

to share my altered ipod touch cover :D

I would recommend giving the cover a coat of gesso to start with.
I didn't and when I used my distress inks they wiped off really easily.
So I used distress inks , pearl acrylic paint dabber, distress and rock candy stickles, distress embossing powder, BG Porcelain stamps and TH stamps with black archival ink and loads of Glossy accents to cover it all

Also another couple of bits of jewellery :D

First Bubbly Scrumptious DT post :D

Well this is my first project for Bubbly Scrumptious design team and I really enjoyed playing :D
I received this fab riff raff chipboard bird which might say its a dove but I see peacock LOL :D
I started by coating the birdie in pearl acrylic paint - I always thought these dabbers were a waste of money, but I'm converted now :D
When dry I spritzed it with home made mists - I used broken china distress ink and a liquid acrylic I found in my local craft shop with water, and the acrylic just with water.
I spritzed, then let it dry thoroughly .
Next I got out my distress ink pads in broken china, shabby shutters and dusty concord.
I found that dabbing worked better than swirling the inks as its a shiny surface and one ink removes the other.

Then I coated it in versamark and coated it with clear utee - don't go too mad with the utee as it will just blow off when you put the heat gun on - less is more to start with :D
I go over it with my heat gun and sprinkle in more utee while its hot to layer it up. I started sprinkling in other colours to highlight areas and create texture - a cosmic shimmer embossing powder and TH distress powder. As you heat it you can add more colours until you are happy with the result

.
Ink a stamp with versamark, or you could use a coloured ink if you prefer and put to one side.
Go over the utee again with the heat gun until it softens then press your stamp in to it- it needs to be on a mount so that you can press it in.If your not happy with the result heat it again until its smooth then start again :D

Next brush on some perfect pearls with a nice soft brush, don't put too much on or you will lose the original colour.
It really highlights the textured surface and gives a lovely shimmery finish.
I added feathers and bling to finish off my pretty birdie:DI already had the blank birdhouse waiting for a project so I cut pieces of paper to the sizes of the panels, then stamped them with TH acrylic stamps with distress inks to give a nice muted look.
I stuck them all on and added lace to the roof to create a tiled but pretty effect.
My white prima flower was coloured by sponging on victorian velvet distress ink with a makeup sponge and added some rock candy distress stickles - I love rock candy, when dry the glue totally disappears and leaves a subtle clear glitter that looks like broken glass twinkling.
I got my misters back out to finish off and add a bit more shimmer.

I hope you like my first project and look forward to seeing your creations and hearing your opinions.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I love playing with utee because its so versatile, you just have to remember not to add too much or you will end up with it everywhere - just enough to stick to the ink!!! ( I learned that the hard way LOL)
Come and visit the Bubbly Scrumptiuos blog for lots of amazing projects with chipboard :D
